And the winner is...

So this week was strange and frustrating. I thought my husband was coming home next week so all the things I needed to do I had to hurry and do because he came home this week. I finished working on this years ornaments.
I made neck warmers for the quilt girls, the party was Friday.
You can't really tell what they are but they are made of fleece and button shut...yes I made the buttons.
Here would be a good time to say I am not a picture taker and the colors are not what I would prefer.
I got most of the measurements I need to start the church on Monday.
Had 2 Christmas parties on Friday. The first was with the quilt girls.

And this is the take....thanks girls....
Made from scratch  embroidered pillow cases, quilt decal, ornament, heat resistant thimbles, sugar cane racoon pencil, soap, ornament, clips, fabric pop and an oreo pop, candy and homemade bread!

And now, well about a moment ago my husband drew......
Congratulations Mama T! Thank you for becoming a follower. Please email me your information so I can send your suprise.
Now I have to get ready for the week ahead.

Ever... & a give-away

Ever have one of those weeks when it was hurry up to go nowhere?  That’s how I think of this past week. I couldn’t wait till this weekend and it’s already Sunday night! I really didn’t get much done this weekend, at least not what I wanted to get done. The plan for this weekend was leave early to get my hair done (my daughter-in-law does my hair and she lives 2 hours away.)  I got up late but managed to leave just 15 minutes late which meant I got to her house later then I wanted  (10:30), knowing she had to pick up my hair supplies because she was out, so I waited for her to get back. A while later my son asked what time I set up getting my hair done, I said 10, he said she said 9….it is now 12:30 and I'm still waiting. She calls, says she will be home shortly….finally at 1:30!!! (I had wanted to leave there at 2:00 because I had a lot of running I still had to do.) Needless to say I got my hair done and got to the cemetery just before dark to put the flowers on.
All was not lost though because I did get to spend time with my baby granddaughter who just turned 1 on the 15th of Nov. She is so precious…
So this week I did a window repair (no picture), a lamp repair,
tried to make a bowl which didn’t turn out, too many bubbles,
started the church I took some measurements on, still don’t have the finished sizes though and will have to call someone this week, made the arrangements, just to name a few things…but not all I wanted to do.
Today I got into the sewing room for a short while. I have been dreading making this one block I needed because I do not like Y seams.  A month or more ago our guild had Penny Haren: www.pennyharen.com give a program on her “pieced appliqué “ technique. After thinking about the block I thought I could use her technique! It worked like a charm and I will definitely remember it. The sides are  a bit skimpy, but I can work those in. Check her out!

(ps) Button, button...forgot a picture

Was in such a hurry to post about a give a-way I forgot to share the towel picture so here it is:
Again, don't forget about the give a-way!!!

Button, button....& a give a-way

Button, button…. I had to sew a small button on my husband’s shirt; he’s leaving first thing in the morning for Mexico.  Well, I had to find a button that would fit. I looked in the little bowl on top of the dryer I put ‘things’ in: coins, screws, buttons that come off, etc. That particular button was not in the bowl. But look what I did find!
I started looking for a button in every place I knew to look. I found lots of buttons, even a zipper foot to God only knows what machine it fits, bias binding makers (dang I wish I would have found those last month when I needed them), but no button.

So after I signed up for this link party I was going to run into the store (JoA…s), pick up the pack of buttons, and get right back home. BUT NOOOO, my husband decided he did want a new pair of jeans (we were only to the store umpteen times in the past 3 weeks and I was telling him to get them then)… After the drug store and mall I did stop and get a pack of buttons taking longer then I wanted to spend because it was a BOGO. I needed ONE button, but I’m a sucker when it comes to bargains. It must have taken 15 minutes to find a pack of buttons I liked with the same price but I did find a pack.
Needless to say 5 ½ hours LATER I finally got into my sewing room. Again and much more OH NOOOO I lost the button!#*! I guess I can’t cry because there is no beer for tears to fall into!

I am making a set of towels for a couple we met and stayed at their home over night, for the ‘Rolling Thunder’ which was very many months ago. I am just now making their thank you gift, which is their name on the towels and 'hotel' because they were so gracious to open their home - as if we stayed at a hotel. Of course when I started the towels last night I ran out of thread and had to run to (JoA…s). They had a BOGO for the thread, ended up getting a really pretty pink also. Now I just ask if they have my bed in the back room and if it's made because it seems I am in there every day.
I still have the hand towels to do. Do you think I should put anything on the wash clothes or just let them be?
I am trying to get followers, so I am going to have a give a-way! If you become a follower on my blog and add me to your "Blogs I Follow" list, I will put your name in the 'hat' to win a really nice prize! (Hint--my real job is stained glass.) Thanx for stopping by.

Friday...OH it's FRIDAY!!!

To all of you who have been affected by the storm know that you are in my prayers.

Please bear with me as I am still hard at work with this blog thing. There are still so many more to add on my 'follow list'. I finally undertand what everyone was asking for when they said 'follow me, or be a follower'.
On my retreat 2 weeks ago I made this:
It is a pattern by Edyta Sitar of http://www.laundrybasketquilts. I found out she grew up close to where I live now! Maybe if I find out exactly where and walk where she did....  She has a lot of wonderful ideas and designs-check her out! I changed the mittens to poinsettias though. When I started quilting this piece I realized I still had the blue thread in from stitching the pieces onto the background. Talk about 'happy accidents, whew....
Two for one!!!! I'm all for saving when possible.
I also finished this that I started 2 years ago. This is my proto type and am not fond of it, the second one I gave as a wedding gift turned out much nicer. I only had to put one more leaf on this, add the border, and quilt it.
The colors changed but it was too dark so I had to play with it a little. The border is a green and brown mix, the orange mix, and then a really pretty purple.

Now onto my real work. I only broke and had to fix it twice after I had it all together. I can only imagine what will happen when I send it out to be insulated....what will it come back like if I broke it twice!?!?! It is on the table with a piece of white paper behind it(...that's where the clear glass is...).I also put a picture of a close up of a corner in it. Sorry for the glare.
I plan on working on a 'sofa scarf' I started I think 2 or was it 3 years ago? (I really do things faster......sometimes) And for work I have to draw out a panel with Chows and am starting a church entrance.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Trying this again...and again & FNSI

Thank you FNSI for making me want to try and do this blogging thing again. My first go around was not very successful.
I didn’t have all that much time to work on what I wanted to having started way too late in the evening, but I was able to get the borders on this table topper. (Of which this is the proto-type I started 2 years ago. The second one I did finish and gave as a wedding gift….turned out great.) This was all together but for the borders. I still think it needs one more leaf in the corner that is blank and I will either cover over that tan inner border with fabric or quilt very tightly to cover it with thread. Any opinions? Yes it is for me and I wasn’t going to take a lot more time with it, but I don’t want to be looking at something that I don’t like either. This piece measures approximately 30" x 30".
The picture was supposed to go here but after 4 hours of getting this much done, it's staying where it is. I will continue working on this as I want to add followers and other things so I might have a decent page by my burial.
