So
much has happened since I last posted and I will not have you reading a novel
so I will try and keep this post to a minimum.
Got
together with most of Lar's family for their birthdays.
One sister and two brothers couldn't make it. |
(Sorry Karen and George, I missed getting you in the pics.)
This is what greeted
us:
Unfortunately the picture did not turn out so good. It is carvings of bears and eagles carved on the whole tree.
I wish I could have used this to get away from the awful service and food. It was terrible.
This however was wonderful!
Made a bag for the 4th;
literally, finished it on the 3rd then I found the one I made a few years
back.
I did
a repair. In my mind I thought why?? The man came in telling me he made it, I said I didn’t
have the glass to match, he said ‘Oh no, just put it back together (both top
wings have a crack through them), I thought ‘ever hear of super glue?!?'
It
was a freebie repair, the man had given me his supplies years ago so I guess I shouldn't complain….
Went
down south to see my grandbabies!!!! Lar had a day job in N.C. so he took a few
extra days off and we vaca-ed in TN.
Spent the day with my friend Dale.
She is one of the top international
wire wrappers: www.cougarscreations.com
When
I left TN 14 years ago there were no quilt shops in the area and I bought a lot
of my fabric at Wal-Mart or Handcocks Fabric Store (not to be confused with
Hancock’s of Paducah) in Chattanooga so imagine my surprise when I saw this
driving through a little town named Charleston!
I went to
in Chattanooga!
Met
Maddie the ‘Bada_ _ Quilter’! She told me there are now 5 quilt shops in Chattanooga.
Some of Maddie's work:
This
is my daughter-in-law and granddaughter enjoying themselves
while I really
enjoyed myself at Spool:
I
am always so in awe of God’s beauty. The mountains in N.C. are breath taking:
Even
more I am so thankful He holds me in His loving arms. Lar went to put air in the tire and he noticed this (about 8 o'clock):
We
had already driven over 1000 miles!
Almost got to see the
Biltmore Mansion. Tickets are $59.00 a piece with a $9.00 internet discount
….needless
to say we didn’t take the tour.
Finished another
Christmas gift!
Have
no idea what happened to make the toes different. All else looks the same. Thank
goodness the style is to wear two completely different socks!
Do you get irritated
when you have a long strip of fabric (maybe a strip for your binding) and it keeps falling off your board when
you have to press it? Try this.
Knot a piece of elastic
(or two, I was too lazy to get the second one out of my bin so I used a rubber
band which can also be used instead of the elastic). Put on the end of your
board (or make more and put on both ends) and put the fabric under the elastic. They act like extra hands
and your stress level will disappear when pressing the strip of fabric!

I didn't know there were so many quilt shops in Chattanooga! Maybe it's time for a road trip!
